Presentation: Online Reputation
Choose a partner and find two examples of high school students (or someone under 20) and the impact that their efforts to build a solid online reputation has had on their lives/future/career choice/college choice. You and your partner will present these two examples to the class in a live presentation.
Find at one success story and tell us:
-what they did online (show examples of blog/videos etc. if available)
-what they are doing now
-what constructive and positive steps they took to building and maintaining a positive online reputation
like what? a blog, a business, an online movement, charity. What do you find when you Google their name?
Either find a second example of a positive online reputation or…
If you can’t find two success stories then you may present one failure or online mistake or mistake made by a high school student or young adult as relates to the information they shared online. Present the following:
-what they did or did not do
-show/describe the example
-describe the impact that it had on their life/future/career choice/college future
NOTE: one of the goals of this presentation is to educate us about the lesser known success (or failure stories). That means that Mark Zuckerberg and Justin Bieber are not eligible for this work.
You and your partner will present these two cases to the class as a presentation.
Presentation guidelines:
-be thorough in your presentation. If you say that the person created a social network in Dorchester be ready for the question, “Where’s Dorchester?” If you tell us that they started an online business in 2004 be ready to tell us what they are doing NOW.
-rehearse rehearse rehearse: don’t read your presentation
-support your presentation partner: respond to their emails, sit next to them, TALK to them. I want to see you working together and your actions should be directed towards that goal.
